Baptisms, Marriages, & Deaths in Jamaica with Haitian Connection

I enjoy when I come across records that can help someone in their research. This collection will help those researching their ancestry in Jamaica and Haiti.

The burial collection from 1795 to 1799 contains records on the individuals’ name, age, nationality, their place of origin, residence and their next of kin. There are only 52 images but that is more than what we had previously. Hopefully someone can connect to these records.

The next set of records are for Baptisms, Marriages, and Deaths that cover from 1798 to 1804. These records are part of the Kingston Funeral Register. The records contain the person’s name, and age. If the person was enslaved, the record also lists the enslaved holder’s name.

The following records are baptisms that are also from Kingston and contain 16 images in the collection. These records have the person being baptized name, age, their sponsors, class, and their next of kin.

For those of you of Haitian descent and have a connection to Jamaica or you are Jamaican and have a connection to Haiti or St. Domingue, these records will interest you as they contain names of refugees, where they were born, their residence, sponsors and next of kin. These contain baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and death records. In total there are 93 records in this collection.

The following collection is a mixture of people, both free and enslaved that were being baptized between 1832 to 1836. The 177 records include name of the person, gender, residency, nationality, their next of kin, if they were enslaved, and the enslaver’s name.

The last of the records in this collection was created by archivists based out of New Orleans. The collection includes a hodgepodge of baptisms, marriages, and death records. This collection contains 57 images for the years 1795 to 1823.

Hopefully these collections can truly help those stuck in their research. As I find more records, I will continue to share.
