Guayama – San Antonio de Padua Church Records

The town of Guayama was founded in 1736 and the church, San Antonio de Padua, has been there for about the same length of time. However, based on church records, it looks like documentation of births, confirmations, marriages, and death records didn’t begin until around 1746.  FamilySearch does have some errors on years captured in their catalog, but that is usually the case as things were documented manually so long ago. With the condition of the books, there are many loose pages, so it pays to look across the type of books available.

There are books that have a mixture of births, marriages, and deaths.  There is no rhyme or reason as to how they are laid out in the books and years are mixed in. I will pay off to look at these books as there may be years I did not cover but are there.
